GROUP LEADERS: MAKE SURE EACH CASSETTE BEARS THE NAMES OF THE STUDENTS ACTING THE MAIN ROLE, IN THE ORDER THEY ACTED IT.  THEN  WRITE THE STUDENTS' NAMES BELOW, CIRCLE THE POINTS EARNED, AND GIVE TOTALS.



Students' delivery should accommodate to the way of seeing and saying things typical of their English speaking double. You are to judge how well they convey the presence of that person and his/her culture. .Presence does not simply mean expressive accuracy (the "right" pronunciation, intonation, register, posture, gaze, etc.); it means you "feel" that the person before you is really quite similar to the double she/he has chosen to be like.  In other words, through her/his language and behavior you feel that s/he has a background and an existential stance congruent with her/his double's. This is "presence".


 -  POINTS for presence as the main character: 0 = neither authentic nor convincing;: 1 = fairly authentic (the student talks like a member of the double's community) but not convincing (the student seems to be "acting a role", not "living new values");    2 = fairly convincing but not very authentic;    3 = fairly convincing and fairly authentic;    4 = completely convincing and completely authentic.

 -  POINTS for presence as a supporting character:: 0 = did not help his/her partner perform well by creating an atmosphere and a feeling consonant with the culture and the scene; 1 = did help him/her.
