Giusto is Director of CNIT@UniCA Lab of Multimedia Communications and Professor of Telecommunications at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Cagliari, Italy, where he teaches Communication Systems and Image Processing and Transmission. He is also a Visiting Professor of Image Processing at the International Advanced School of Optical Technologies, Nuoro, Italy. His research interests are in the area of video/image processing and communication. He is the recipient of the 1993 AEI Ottavio Bonazzi best paper award, and co-recipient of an 1998 IEEE Chester Sall best paper award. Dr. Giusto is a senior member of IEEE, and a member of AEI, EURASIP,and SPIE; he is also a member of the board of CNIT, the Italian University Consortium for Telecommunications, an Evaluator/Auditor for the European Commission, and the Italian National Delegate in the ISO JTC_1/SC_29/WG_1 (JPEG) standardization committee. He has been General Chair for the PACKET VIDEO 2000 International Workshop.
