ICQ VS. MSN Messenger Service
Everything that I should happen to say in this
review/competition is only my personal views and no one has aided me or
influenced me in any way, including Microsoft, or AOL. This is a completely
unbiased review of both programs.
... but MSN makes a nifty little directory in your My
Documents folder, for all of the files that you should receive, alas, ICQ doesn't, it makes several little
directories in your ICQ directory, so, when you want to delete these programs, you have to sift
through files and files in the ICQ folders, just to find the shared files, to keep them, then
you have to move them, and then delete ICQ, whereas with MSN, you delete the folder, no
sifting, no copying. Okay, so by now you're thinking, stop insulting ICQ, but there are some
mild downsides to MSN, such as you need a "passport" from MSN, but that's the only REAL BIG
downside I can see, like, sure you can add friends to ICQ, but most of the time, your MSN
friends list is ONLY friends. Oh, yeah, you can't search for people to be on your list, you
need an exact e-mail address.
A final look!
This is review was done
fairly well, but you tell us, go download
these two programs, and use them for yourself for a few days, (no one can be
held accountable for anything or any damage that either of these two programs
make) and then, if you feel that I was right on the money, or way off on this
review, please send questions comments, and other e-mail to either me Richard,
or Zarax, we welcome e-mail regarding
this
site.

A Few History of Computer Evolution
Bill Gates founded Microsoft in the 70s years with Paul
Allen. In the 1975, IBM asked Microsoft to develop an
operative system for his computers.
In the same years, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded
Apple.
IBM and Apple computers, had different philosophies of
beginning. The Apple initially was a computer created for the
hobbistic use, while IBM was a professional use one. Otherwise, the differences between Bill and the
creators of Apple computers are opposed. Gates's ideal was utopistic : <<a computer on
every desk and in every house>>, while Jobs's was strictly commercial. |

What is the secret of Microsoft-IBM computers success?
Simply, IBM ones were standardized and relatively
cheap, well suited for office use, accordling with IBM market target, while Apple ones are
developed for "high level programs" (the use of computer graphics in the 70s
years was very uncommon), powerful but very costly. This caught off balance, and the Machintosh had great
success in the 80s years, it is a perfection machine, but not enough cheap to became a
real commodity object.
When Microsoft developed on IBM computers the Windows
interface, in the first half of 90s years, the gap between the two sistems was partially
reduced, and the relatively low cost of computers, united at the retrocompatibility of IBM
computers, Microsoft starts to grows. This, united by the enclosure police of Apple had let
IBM-clone computers to reach an ever growing number of people. In fact, IBM had rendered free his design and anyone
can build it, giving a contribute to lowering the price.
The Windows 95's Era
In 1995 Microsoft had
reached approximately today's dimensions, having almost the market domination.
Windows 95 greatly reduced the gap between PC and
Apple, and the spreading of Internet had begun a new era, creating a new dimension of
computing.
Netscape, had seen the real face of Internet, and
started selling his browser, reaching a great success. Microsoft, starting late, developed and distributed his
browser, the Internet Explorer. Bill Gates has become the world's most wealthy man, but
the american antitrust started to attack him, supported by the lobbies of Apple and
Netscape, accused with no evidence. Because Netscape has no compatibility problems with
Windows, there is no monopolistic move, Explorer is only a free service, and everybody can
have it if they want. Not only an eventual Microsoft Destruction will
ends the Windows era, but it will reach apocaliptic effects, forcing customers having 3
operative systems on the same PC, and even to have hardware conflicts every 2 minutes.
People, Bill is the guy that had saved the world
from the elite-only use of computer, not everybody can have $5000 every two years to buy a
computer.
