I particularly like this image because it has a somewhat "calm" appearence. Even if the model's material is quite plain and simple, the realism of the image is higly improved by subtle shading obtained via Overcaster global lighting technique.

The backdrop was generated in Terragen as a panoramic 360 picture so that the lighting is actually derived from the colors of the environment surrounding the robot. This, together with a slight post-render touch-up, helped a lot in merging the main subject with the background.

Light position and attributes in the Lightwave scene were derived directly from Terragen so that they matched the pre-rendered background.
