Mrs. Tate Stays Busy

Sweet Alyssa Milano has moved from one Aaron Spelling show (Melrose Place) to another (Charmed). Yet the best thing in her life right now is her brand-new, rock-and-roll husband, Cinjun Tate.

LISA KLUGMAN : Tell us about your television show Charmed.

ALYSSA : It's about three sisters who are good witches. The show is about their relationship, and about how they deal with having supernatural powers.

LISA KLUGMAN : Are you working long hours?

ALYSSA : Fifteen-hour days Monday through Friday. It's a new project, so it's sort of crazy. They're still figuring out how to do a show with only three cast members and special effects and all the other challenges you have when a show is just starting.

LISA KLUGMAN : One of your co-stars, Shannen Doherty, has had all sorts of problems with the press. Did you know Shannen before working with her?

ALYSSA : I had only met her once before, and now she's one of my closest friends. I've been a lot luckier with the press than she has been. I never mind doing interviews -- talking has never been a problem for me!

LISA KLUGMAN : But you have had problems with the Internet, and you did something about it.

ALYSSA : Yeah, there were images of me on the Internet that I didn't know about, that people were making money from, so I settled out of court with several individuals. Then one case went to trial and I received a settlement. It was a landmark lawsuit. I took all the money I won and created safesearching.com, which is a search engine, meaning it allows you to search the Web without pornography, and everything is copyrighted. The Internet is a relatively new industry and it's way out of control. I know a lot of celebrities are frustrated with their images being sold on the Web, and I'm hoping that my settlement and my search engine will help them.

LISA KLUGMAN : Congratulations on winning your lawsuit, and congratulations again, on an entirely different matter, your recent wedding!

ALYSSA : Thank you -- we just got married six weeks ago in Louisiana on a plantation. It was a very small wedding, just 40 people. My husband's name is Cinjun Tate, he's the lead singer of a band. Between getting married and my long hours on the job I hardly have time for anything else, so my friends are learning to be very patient with me.

LISA KLUGMAN : So you have stopped working out completely, which would be understandable .....

ALYSSA : I haven't seen my trainer since I started Charmed. But I do little things, like leg lifts before work and yoga poses after work, just so my mind can feel like I'm doing something positive for my body. Plus my character on the show just started doing martial arts, and I've been sore after doing that, so that's good. I was taking tap dancing lessons before Charmed, but now I really don't do anything besides work and spending time with my new husband. I'm just really, really happy. Work is very rewarding right now, and being married is very rewarding. I'm busy, but I'm happy.
