L'uomo che e' stato forse l'icona piu' rappresentativa delle nuove generazioni durante un
intero ventennio , a partire dal 1962 , anno di fondazione dei Beatles ;
muore in una fredda sera invernale a New York colpito da 4 proiettili , che segnano la fine
di una vita e di un'epoca eccezzionali ed irripetibili.

The man who has been perhaps the icon of a generation during 20 years, beginning
from 1962, year of foundation of the
Beatles
, dies in a cold winter evening in New York killed with 4 shots.
They mark the end of an exceptional life and an exceptional age.

John Winston Ono Lennon, MBE (born John Winston Lennon; 9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980)
was an English rock musician, singer, writer, songwriter, artist, actor and peace activist
who gained worldwide fame as one of the founding members of The Beatles .
John Lennon along with Paul McCartney formed one of the most influential
and successful songwriting partnerships and "wrote some of the most popular
music in rock and roll history" . John Lennon revealed his rebellious nature and wit
on television, in films such as A Hard Day's Night, in books such as In His Own Write,
and in press conferences and interviews .
He was controversial through his work as a peace activist, artist, and author .
After The Beatles, Lennon launched a successful solo career by releasing the critically
acclaimed albums John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine and writing songs such
as "Give Peace a Chance" and "Imagine" .
After a self-imposed "retirement" from 1976 to 1980, Lennon reemerged with a comeback
album, Double Fantasy, which would win the 1981 Grammy Award for Album of the Year .
One month after the release of the album,
Lennon was murdered in New York City on 8 December 1980.
