From 1962 to 1970 he was restorer and draftsman for archaeological
materials and excavations in the “Palethnology Institute” of Rome
University (La Sapienza).

Since 1960 he took part, as restorer and architect, to numerous
archaeological missions in Italy, Afghanistan, Turkey, Sudan and
Egypt, and contributed to the study,
graphic reconstruction and publications of monumental buildings and
archaeological areas.

His professional activity in the restoration and archaeology fields
has been always flanked by the activity in the art field, with
production of paintings, sculptures, design of objects and
architectural realizations.

In 1970 he was appointed “Professor of project and Director of
metal and goldsmith’s art laboratories, in the “State Institute of
Art”.

In 1976-79 he was appointed teacher of “methodology and techniques
for restoration” in the Cairo University in Egypt.

In 1979 he founded a “Cantiere-scuola” for training of restorers and
technicians in the archaeological field, in the frame of the
recovery project of the Mevlevi architectural complex in Cairo.

Since 1978 he was appointed professor of methodology of restoration
in the “Training Program for Restoration and Archaeology” in Cairo
by the DGCS of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Since 1988, he is Director of the “Centro Italo-Egiziano per il
Restauro e l’Archeologia”, placed in the Mevlevi monumental area by
the Protocol between Italian and Egyptian Government, signed on
9-2-88, in Cairo Egypt.

In 1989 he was nominated for the “Aga Khan Award for Architecture”.

In
2003 it was conferred on him the title of “Cavaliere al merito della
Repubblica” by President A. Ciampi.

In 2007 it was
conferred on him the “Prize to Merit of the General Union of the
Arab Archaeology “ by the President Dr. Ali Radwan and the Secretary
General Dr. Mohammed M. Alkalawi
