Abstract

the life cycle assessment of the old slaughterhouse of Spilamberto (Mo)

The study we present has been developed in cooperation with the ENEA of Bologna (istitution for new technology, energy and environment), Firenze university and the municipality of Spilamberto (Mo). Purpose of this work is to estimate the life cycle assessment of the old slaughterhouse of Spilamberto (Mo), that is from 1923-(the construction year)- to 2005-year of its restoration, suggested in this study- up to 2050, hypothetical year of its demolition.

This study has been developed by using the dutch calculus code SimaPro 5.0, the results of which have been analysed by the method Eco-indicator 99.

As regard the restoration of the building an eco design has been proposed for some building elements, in order to reduce the environmental impact. Moreover the projectual choices have been made in order to reduce the energy consumption, thanks to the heat insulation and the regulation of the summer and winter sun contribution, realized by introducing building element such as roof projections, sunshades and mastings.

The study revolved around the energetic analysis of the building referred to the winter time; this energy has been calculated referring to the law N°10 of 1991, with the software Recal 10 of ENEA.With such an evaluation it has been calculated the energetic contribution of a south wall of the building for the heating system it has been chosen a heating pump beside a photovoltaic system because it has been proved that this kind of chiice is convenient for the environment.
