Quite amazingly,
Americans and the American government, have recently been criticizing the
legal systems and trials in other countries such as China, Russia, Belgium
and many other places. This is amazing, of course, in light of the clear
violations of human and legal rights by America in its overseas jails,
such as the infamous situations in Guantanamo and occupied Iraq. Several
governments are working hard just to try and obtain even the most
primitive judicial rights for their own nationals, who have been seized
and held in abusive conditions by the USA empire. And yet, the United
States of America somehow still brags about its own legal system, while
criticizing other countries.
But the problem is much bigger, than America's legal abuses under its
military invasions and "war on terrorism". It's time to confront the fact
that these USA violations of international law, are consistent with the
corruption in America's home legal system within its own borders, and with
America's legal abuses against its own citizens and residents.
The entire world should be aware of how the corrupt USA legal system, is a
danger to every traveler, visitor, and guest worker from overseas, to
every individual who takes the risky step of entering upon American
territory. Just ask the overseas families of prisoners who were put to
death inside the USA, with their embassies never even being informed that
they were arrested - or the many foreign people serving hugely long prison
terms, after they were jailed on flimsy evidence inside America.
The reality is that the United States of America, which proclaims itself
the "land of freedom", may have the most dishonest and crooked legal
system of any developed nation. The corruption of the USA legal system is
well-known, but also well-hidden, by America's large corporate media news
services.
My own case is proof of America's tragically laughable level of legal
corruption. I am a writer with my freedom of speech banned by the USA
government - after I dared to criticize a rich woman who is a millionaire
campaign contributor to President Bush's Republican Party. Meanwhile Mr.
Bush is boasting about his so-called "land of freedom".
My father was Canadian, my mother European, but I lived most of my life
inside the USA. I am a graduate of Harvard University and have seven
university degrees - one of the most educated people to have lived inside
America. At Harvard I helped teach a course on the evils of nazi and
fascist governments. I have written several books, including a well known
book on corruption in the USA automobile sales industry.
Bush's multi-millionaire friend who bought the criminal scheme against me,
is the famous author and right-wing extremist, Patricia Cornwell, who at
one point had a friend of President Bush living in her mansion. After I
criticized this millionaire contributor for some of her neo-nazi-style
activities, the US federal courts set me up in a phony political "show
trial" to silence me and ban my freedom of speech. I was given fake
lawyers who, it was proclaimed in writing, were part of a "civil rights
charity foundation" which does not even exist. These lawyers threatened me
with illegal jailing, rape and torture, and murder in jail - like the
threats America used on the Iraqi prisoners.
After a number of weeks, with no jury allowed to hear me, the court
proclaimed victory for Mr. Bush's millionaire friend, and it was laughably
claimed I "agreed" to "voluntarily submit" to having my freedom of speech
and journalism banned for the rest of my life, and that I should begin to
pay 100,000 US dollars to the judge's friends, these fake lawyers
installed by the judge to produce this "agreement". As documents prove, I
faced jail, and even torment and death, if I did not remain silent about
this farce in a USA courtroom. I was ordered into total silence about
Bush's contributor, and about the phony nature of the "show trial" court
proceeding, on pain of being quietly jailed and murdered.
From inside the USA I tried to find lawyers to help me fight this phony
"show trial", and I contacted thousands of lawyers, only to find that US
lawyers already accept court fraud, bribery, and fake "show trials" as
normal. "That's how the game is played," say the American lawyers. And
also, "You can’t fight a crooked judge that's backed by the Bush
government." I was told that my only hope was to escape from the USA
before I was jailed and murdered.
I never found a lawyer in America who had the courage to represent me, or
to try and protect me from harm, even though I had clear written proof of
these political crimes. USA lawyers are frightened, terrified of
confronting their country's legal corruption. I am very lucky now to have
escaped out of America alive.
The crimes that were committed against me are fully proven by documents.
Now that I have exposed this scandal from safe haven overseas, these
crimes and my situation are starting to be "reviewed" by the American
government, and by a committee named by America's Supreme Court Chief
Justice Rehnquist - though we have yet to see if this is anything more
than a cover-up. Meanwhile, I still face jail if I return to the USA,
under the ridiculous fable that I "agreed" to a ban on my own freedom of
speech.
My case is known to the American media, but the media corporations greatly
fear informing the public about this kind of legal scandal. They are
afraid of the social upheaval that would result from Americans learning
about the degree of corruption in their own courts. My case does not fit
the US boasting about having "the greatest legal system in the world",
especially given that the evidence of court fraud in this scandal, is so
blatant that it is hilarious. Most amusing is the phony "civil rights
charity foundation" invented by the judge and the lawyers, who put this
criminal fiction in writing and on the internet.
The unique factor in USA legal corruption is its amazingly devious body of
lawyers, these lawyers who "play the game" with America’s judges and
politicians. It is a savage culture of legal fraud, where lawyers work
with judges to rob and terrify people, especially minorities and
foreigners, and those who dare to question the wealthy and powerful.
A key fact about life in America is that the USA has over 2 million
prisoners - 25 percent of all the people in jail in the entire world, are
in jail inside America. Many of those people are innocent. People accused
of serious crimes have the "right" to a lawyer, but this may mean only a
crooked lawyer who is stage-managing the victim to help the government and
prosecutors. If the lawyer does not help the government, he can be put out
of work and not "assigned" to any more cases, or treated badly the next
time he is in a courtroom. This legal fraud is the core of the danger to
those who visit America. A lawyer who is "representing" you in the USA,
whether the government is paying him, or even if you are paying him
yourself, may just be a stooge who is helping the prosecutors to put you
in jail, even though you are innocent.
The judges and lawyers call this "the game", as they casually send people
to jail for long terms of 10 years, 20 years or life, not caring too much
about who is innocent or guilty. In addition to the many official USA
executions, people are also illegally killed in jail cells, "mysteriously"
said to be hanging themselves or "found stabbed to death".
Conditions are brutal in the USA, inside the most enormous jail system in
the world; rape and torment and beatings are common, and there is little
help for abused prisoners. Without diminishing the brutality of the crimes
committed by Americans in Iraqi prisons, it is also true that such crimes
are consistent with the brutality of prisons inside America as well.
In addition to the 2 million prisoners, the USA has almost 1 million
lawyers. Many of these lawyers are rich, "playing the game" for the big
corporations, or playing the specially lucrative game of suing doctors and
hospitals; but many of these lawyers are also out of work, desperately
hoping for a chance to make big money like other lawyers. Lawyers
themselves are under the whip of fear: If they fight the judges or the
culture of legal bribery, they themselves face revenge, they can lose
their career connections and ability to make money, or worse. Lawyers who
try to help the victims targeted by the government, are even themselves
now being arrested and criminally charged.
America's health care system is being destroyed by the legal culture of
constant lawsuits against doctors and hospitals, with huge amounts of
money being given to the lawyers in these cases, driving up the cost of
medical care and putting it out of reach of many people. US lawyers joke
about how, when the courts make big money awards to pay a lawyer, the
lawyer often gives the judge a bribe by way of gratitude. Some lawyers
grow rich, and doctors are afraid to continue practicing medicine in the
US, and many Americans die from lack of health care.
But while America's lawyers will very casually file legal charges against
doctors, hospitals, or ordinary people, they are extremely afraid to take
any legal action against another lawyer or judge. This is part of "playing
the game".
In my case, with my freedom of speech illegally banned in a fake political
"show trial", the lawyers told me I had "no hope for freedom" inside the
USA and that they would not help me, for fear of their own careers. And
America's lawyers, as a whole, have had little to say about America’s
recent international crimes of prisoner abuse, and violation of
international human rights agreements. American lawyers, as always, are
"playing the game". America does not have the rule of law - instead it is
the rule of lawyers who worship money and power. And, in America, it can
be jail or worse for anyone who tries to fight these lawyers.
For a long time, America has tried to coast on the images of "freedom"
portrayed in Hollywood movies and films. These films sometimes portray
"brave lawyers" who will "fight for your rights", just like they portray
"freedom and democracy and justice".
Even after I suffered the phony "show trial" to ban my freedom of speech,
I tried to find resources inside America to help fight these crimes, as I
didn’t yet understand how thoroughly the US is now under the iron fist of
legal corruption. At the risk of my own life, I stayed inside America to
try to find some few brave lawyers who would help "fight for justice" like
in the movies. But this proved to be hopeless in reality. Legal corruption
is covering America like a blanket.
America sells political propaganda just like Hollywood sells movies.
America is a culture built on sales and advertising; it focuses on
portraying an image, not the reality beneath. But the reality of America
is that Americans, despite their overall wealth, are a people living in a
society of great fear. Their fears are complicated, and many Americans
cannot even put their fears into words. They are afraid of lawyers and the
prison system, afraid of the economy and losing their jobs, afraid of
needing health care, and afraid of what will happen if they try to
question the way things work. They often feel helpless and powerless
against the great forces dominating their country.
American citizens are confused and fearful, and gullible to propaganda;
which means that a jury in a trial, who tend to be poorly educated, will
tend to go along with any lies presented by government prosecutors. In
this environment of fear, the feeling of safety comes from following the
"strong" government in sending various "suspected criminals" to jail.
Because Americans have difficulty in sorting out their many fears, they
have become ripe candidates for racial and religious hatreds, and for
following the government into war. The issues of "terrorism" and war
distract the emotions of Americans from the terrible problems in their own
society at home. The foreign "enemy" gives Americans a face on which to
project their fear and their anger. The result is the horrifying
misconduct of some Americans in these wars; while back inside the USA,
there is increasing corruption and repression in the legal system.
Americans desperately would like to believe that they still live in a
"free" country, as it is so horrifying to face the ugly truth. Americans
can imagine they are "free" because they can still choose among different
products to buy, or quit their job, or buy a gun at the store. The
Americans most likely to think they are still "free" are the ones who have
not yet been trapped in the halls of America’s legal system. They have not
yet seen the lawyers and judges who smirk and laugh as they deny victims
the most basic human rights.
The truth is that, inside America, a nightmare has begun. The lawyers and
judges and courts, "playing the game", will often trample upon the
freedoms that Americans thought they had. It is people like me, escaped
from the USA, living in kinder and gentler places, who are now the lucky
ones. No one should ever again be fooled by USA propaganda about being the
"land of freedom". Those who are thinking of traveling to, visiting, or
working in America, should think again. It might not be worth the risk of
being in a country that has one of the most crooked legal systems in the
world.
