___Francesco Massi_   _                                                       biography

Francesco Massi joined the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of the University of Rome "La Sapienza" with the position of Associate professor in 2012. He is member of the research collaborative network InTriG (International Tribology Group).

His research activities lie in applied mechanics with emphasis on vibrations, acoustics and tribological contact problems. His research focuses on friction-induced vibrations, addressing friction noise and induced wear of contact surfaces under vibration. The interection between  system dynamics and local behaviour at the contact interfaces is the main object of his current research. Several fundamental and applied research projects are developed by coupling the dynamic and tribological points of view.

_____His teaching activities lie in the field of applied mechanics.

Francesco Massi joined the "Contact and Structural Mechanics Laboratory" of the INSA of Lyon with the position of "Maître de conférences" between 2007 and 2012. As a member of the research group TMI (Tribology and Interface Mechanics), in the same period he joined the mechanical department "GMD - Génie Mécanique Développement" and the department “Premier Cycle” of the INSA of Lyon, where he  accomplished his teaching activity.

Francesco Massi received the Ph.D. degree in "Theoretical and Applied Mechanics" at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" in 2006. He obtained contemporarily the Ph.D. degree in "Génie Mécanique" at the LaMCoS (Laboratoire de Mécanique des Contacts et des Structures), at the INSA of Lyon.
