A man heard a popping sound Tuesday coming from his car while driving on Interstate 469 between Maplecrest Road and Interstate 69. Shortly before 5 p.m., his car caught fire. According to Chief Jim Berger of the St. Joe Fire Department, an Indiana State Police trooper put the fire out with an extinguisher. Firefighters finished cooling things off with water. There were no injuries.
