Voci leggendarie voglio che i Dead On Arrival siano stati i primi ad usare il termine hardcore in ambito punk, anzi, molti considerano il loro secondo album "Hardcore '81" la linea che demarca il punk dall'hardcore. La musica del trio di Vancouver è molto veloce e spigolosa, non molto lontana come impatto a certe sonorità metal.
