LU RITRÀNGHELE

This object has disappeared from Fallo since the time when people stopped making homemade bread.

In fact it was used to spread or gather the embers in the oven in which such food was baked. These ovens, now replaced by more modern appliances, still exist in some old houses in Fallo.

Usually they were placed near the fireplace so as to use the same chimney, and apparently they were very efficient.

As seen in the picture, "lu ritrànghele" consisted of a long handle ending with a rectangular shovel at ninety degree of the handle.

It was certainly one of the objects more easily made by the blacksmith who, besides forging horseshoes, was accustomed to make keys for house doors and "pizzelle" irons.
