LA COPPA Nowadays an obsolete object,
it was used above all to cook potatoes on embers.
Usually of copper, "la coppa"
was placed in the fireplace and the potatoes were placed under it or
taken out of it through an opening located in the front. La coppa was
then covered with embers so that the potatoes were baked.
Still today, the old-timers
of the village speak of "li patate sotte a la coppe"
(the potatoes cooked under the "coppa"), as of something really tasty.
We don't find hard to believe
this, above all because, in those days, the potatoes were, along with
vegetables, one of the few nutritional resources of the peasant class.
