A big question by Fabrizio Sinagra Alexandra’s hopes by Alexandra Minerba TO BECOME FAMOUS by Francesco Coga; Rosaria Alimena Independence from their families by Giovanni Carella; Monica Inzerillo Raising a family by Monica Inzerillo Independence
for women by Jani A big question: What do you want to be when you grow up? Two points of views –philosophical and practical Here is Fabrizio’s idea: The word "job" has a variety of meanings, but all come from the affirmation that a job is an activity planned by man! The dictionary isolates some explanations of the term: 1- in a generic sense, it is the application of energy for the attainment of a specific aim; 2-the word job is commonly used within the organization of society, it is a productive activity, and from an economic, juridical, syndical, point of view, it is an agreement as a source of individual or community income, a contract stipulated among the syndical organizations of the workers and the entrepreneurs.
A job can be therefore
considered the tool for the realization of man, or simply a means to earn a
living. In both cases it deals with a necessity that however, it assumes a
different connotation in fact in the first one it pursues a positive meaning
because it represents an essential relationship between nature and man; while in
the second it has negative sign, since it is not the job in itself to be
necessary but its product. Therefore the necessity of the job is contrasted to
the necessity to work. It can also be thought of as the domination of man on
nature, understood as a challenge, putting in prominence the technical aspect of
the human conquests.

At this moment of my life, I attend the third school year of “the linguistic high-school”. Here I study subjects such as English, Spanish and Economy. These subjects will help me to approach an administrative job in a company . For the other part of my life, I have been dancing ever since I was eleven years old and my deepest, hidden dream is to become a professional dancer for a great dance company. Sometimes dance classes take time away from my studies but I always find a way to do everything. At the moment, I live with my parents but I hope to get a house of my own someday. About the future, I hope to become a great translator for a big touring company, or work in a translating agency, for example. But my real “dream” is to be a world trotting manager, someday! Some want to become someone… Becoming famous is perhaps the dream of every teenager. When only you mention the word "famous" you just think of having a lot of money, signing autographs, getting married to a beautiful man or woman etc...but that isn’t for me. Famous people can help the world, save the children in Africa or in other poor countries. I admire singers like Bono Vox, U2´s lead singer. He is the most famous singer that is helping the African children, and he talks to politicians in order to get help for countries in Africa and other poor countries. Bono Vox also is a very religious man! A few years ago, he met Pope John Paul II. The Pope gave Bono a rosary, and Bono (in exchange) gave the Pope his sun glasses. Bono thinks that all men are brothers, even if they do not believe in the same religion. If I become famous, I´ll go to children’s hospitals to meet the sick children so that I could bring smiles on their faces! I´ll also organize charity meetings, or give charity concerts. It may seem that these be the general things that everybody says, but what could be more important than a child's smile? I think that if every one, famous or not, all together, work a lot, we can save and better the world. But, it needs a lot of time. Francesco Coga IV Z
Others are thinking about it…
An ambition that I have had ever since I was young is to Become Famous! But that will never happen to me because I’m one of those timid girls, I will never be courageous enough to go on an audition on a television programme. Had it not been so, I can’t deny that I would try to become a singer or an actress. But I’m more interested in knowing which are the positive and negative sides in the life of a celebrity person, because nobody, not even celebraties, has a quiet life, as you may easily suppose. When you are a star it is easy to be recognized on the street, to be invitated on television programmes, to have a lot of fans all over the world, But it is also the possible to travel for fun or for work but you might be unhappy after some years, because you will always have a photographer behind of you, you might make mistakes and everybody will speak badly about you, another negative aspect is that, you will never be with your family, you will never have a private life. Many people ask…
This is very difficult because it isn’t easy to have the necessary requirements and to be pleasing to the public. Today it is not so, many people become famous thanks to reality shows or thanks to “who” they know. I’m not trying to be mean but it is to be realistic. The people do many things to get on television,
they also lose their dignity. I’m not sure I still have this dream, because being a star can change your life. Rosaria Alimena III Z
Some want their independence from their families Be An Independent Man Giovanni Carella 4z I am a boy of seventeen and I have many dreams that I would like to realise. For example, things like getting my driver’s licence or going to university to get a degree, travelling, finding a very good job and mainly becoming an independent man. In fact becoming an independent man is my principal target. To tell the truth, I’m really tired of depending on my parents. At the moment I’m under age, so I can’t do what I want to do. I think that my dream can come true, it isn’t an impossible one, like, peace in the world, rather...I think that it will really be very early. I think that we all can become independent if to become independent means to find a job and to live without the family’s help. What I hope is to become a perfect independent man in the future, with a good job, a good car and many friends, but mainly, to make a lot of money. I can really feel free and independent only when I will leave my family house, because now, living with my family means respecting my parents’ rules and that I don’t like it. When I become an independent man I will live in an apartment very far from my family’s house, so I can respect my rules! “I’m joking.” When I am about twenty-three/twenty-four years old and I have a good job, I will start my new life as an Independent man.
During the years the woman’s role has suffered great changes. For example in the early Ages the woman was seen as a demoniac creature, because the clerics held the cultural monopoly; while in the late middle Ages the woman was seen as an angel come down on earth for the lovers salvation. Nowadays the woman is independent, autonomous and free. She has the same rights and duties of the man, in fact many woman choose to conduct an autonomous life, without the need to have dependent bonds from someone, above all of economic nature, and to reach positions of particular importance. Many jobs that in past were exclusively developed by men, now are also developed by women. The points of view have changed, woman doesn’t only remain home and look after children, but she contributes to financial comfort of the family and she independently makes her own choices. It’s so in theory at least! In fact the statistics show that women can achieve remarkable positions, in their jobs, not without many sacrifices and effort. It is no wonder that our country is in last positions for female presence in politics. Moreover, despite centuries of "progress", women are still used as an object in many countries: women are exploited, beaten and raped, subjected to husband-masters, and forced into prostitution. It’s important that the women be aware of their potentialities and of the psychological characteristics needed to reach a better quality of personal and social life. Women must be conscience of the offences and the sexist attacks, refusing compromises, false advantages or bleak victories. Monica Inzerillo III Z
Others think of raising a family… Raising a Family
It is a wonderful thing to raise a family. After having obtained good results in her work, woman would like to realize herself in the family too. At the beginning it is beautiful because, when the woman is with a child, see all with peace and more happiness, besides she receives a lot of attentions from her husband. When children are born, life becomes more difficult and full of engagements. Children need absolute attention, in fact many mothers are in a transitory state of depression after childbirth. There is positive angle too, because children give you many boosters and a longing to live. In my opinion having a family with many children is a personal pride, but it isn't easy. One day I hope to raise a family , because I think it is one of the most beautiful experiences . Monica Inzerillo III Z
Others consider travelling in their future… TRAVEL… Everyone Travels For Different Reasons. Some people travel for amusement others for business still others for relaxation or to discover new places and to improve their own cultural knowledge. Almost every year our school offers different trips, likes stages and twinnings, through European projects so we can improve our language skills and in order to settle in the working world. In these past weeks, 30 students from our school have had the opportunity to visit London for 3 weeks and where they could practice their English and work in big and small companies. Talking with these students, I’ve learnt that it was an exciting, challenging experience but also very useful for their cultural background. When travelling you can learn a lot of new things about different cultures and get to know different ideas of new people, that help you to become a better person and to understand that this world is big a various.
