This really is an experience and a half. To have witnessed this concert first
hand or any of the 79/80 gigs, I would have given the proverbial right arm. I
guess you could say i am a fan of this period. Now to the disc.
Picture quality is not outstanding but perfectly adequate, depending on which
angle bob is being shot from he looks fantastic, fit, even athletic. The long
shots are poor, the close ups are hit and miss, with veiwing angles making some
shots very Last Waltzish. All this is forgiven due to the quality of the
performances which transcend any camera misgivings.
The sound quality is very impressive, it really highlights the band. Imo the
best bob has ever had. How this group of people recorded the musically benign
Saved is beyond my comprehension.
So despite only an adequate picture and lots of shots of the musicians from
behind, I say get this as soon as you can, for the impressive sound quality,
for the best available concert from this period, for bob's magnificent vocals
and for a version of ain't gonna go to hell for anybody that needs an official
release asap.
