Review:

A great CD of a great show. This is an audience recording, but don't let that fool you. The sound is right up front. The band (Tom Petty's Heartbreakers) is tight, the vocals are passionate and powerful. Minimal packaging, but lots of pertinent info. The tape was slightly sped to allow the full concert on one CD. In this instance, that move paid off. You don't notice the speed being off, all you see is a cram-packed show of varied selections on one great CD. Well worth the money

The Rolling Thunder Revue

Niagara NY Convention Center, Nov 15 1975 late show. Audience recording.

Dylan sets only, plus 3 songs from the Baez set and one chestnut from McGuinn

This is a fine enjoyable show from this famous tour, in average recording quality.

Adapted from LK's collection, with lots of fixups (speed, eq, dehum, re-channel, re-cue, but no NR or dehiss.) Apparently includes a previous MD generation.

There is an alternate taper's recording from this show, which is cleaner but has much echo.

Seeded on Dylantree Dec 2006. Please do not reseed elsewhere while it's active here.

1987 Temples In Flames - Tour of Europe

One of my most favorite tours! Pure magic as if he was singing straight from the

Kabbalah (and no I am not spelling it wrong). ENJOY!!!

In the service of God, one can learn three things from a child and seven from a thief.

"From a child you can learn (1) always to be happy; (2) never to sit idle; and (3)

to cry for everything one wants. From a thief you should learn: (1) to work at night;

(2) if one cannot gain what one wants in one night to try again the next night; (3)

to love one's coworkers just as thieves love each other; (4) to be willing to risk one's

life even for a little thing; (5) not to attach too much value to things even though

one has risked one's life for them -- just as a thief will resell a stolen article for a

fraction of its real value; (6) to withstand all kinds of beatings and tortures but to

remain what you are; and (7) to believe that your work is worthwhile and not be willing

to change it." (Hasidic text)

You can learn something from everything. Even from a train, a telephone and a telegram.

From a train, he said, you can learn that in one second one can miss everything. From a

telephone you can learn that what you say over here can be heard over there. And from a

telegram that all words are counted and charged. (Hasidic rabbi)

I could sing anything. There might've been a time when I was going to quit or retire,

but the next day it was like, 'I can't really retire now because I really haven't done

anything yet,' you know? I want to see where this will lead me, because now I can

control it all. Before, I wasn't controlling it. I was just being swept by the wind,

this way or that way." (Interview with Mikal Gilmore, Rolling Stone December 22, 2001)

Two sites that you may find interesting/informative the first is about Bob's

Temple In Flames 1987 European tour (Thank you Olof!) and the second is about

the Kabbalah (thank you Colin Low!)

http://www.bjorner.com/87-2.htm#_Toc76919821

http://www.digital-brilliance.com/kab/faq.htm

and one more site I came across regarding the Kabbalah

http://www.sacred-texts.com/jud/tku/index.htm

"The Ancient Wisdom, the Sacred Books, taught. that we cannot understand Matter without

understanding Spirit, that we cannot understand Spirit without understanding Matter.

That Matter and Spirit are only opposite poles of the same universal substance. All through

the Qabalah runs this axiom: "that Malkuth is in Kether, that Kether is in Malkuth."

The same idea is repeated through the Gnostic teaching: "the earth that is in the heaven,

the heaven that is in the earth." (The Kabbalah Unveiled: Preface To The New Edition by

M. MACGREGOR MATHERS).

Overall this is a pretty s'well recording. If I had to guess I'd say that this is soundboard recording

based mostly on the great stereo seperation and the crowd sounding as if they're coming through

the stage mics. But no promises. There's a fair amount of hiss mainly noticeable during song breaks

so I'd say that this is at least a 2nd generation tape. Still its very listenable, enjoyable in fact so don't

let the hiss remark keep you from grabbing it. It's not as if this one shows up every day.

I'd certainly love an upgrade or to have someone with skill clean this up.
