So I got bored procrastinating today, and I wondered what exactly is going on behind the scenes when using Mac OS X’s built in Secure Empty Trash option. I found a couple of useful facts that I thought I’d share, because writing about

Update on the “Trash Can Killer” Holly Ashcraft
But in this case the closest relative of the victim is Ashcraft, the person who tossed them into the trash. The father has never, publicly at least, come forward so baby X remains silent and largely forgotten.

A small flood in my grandparent's basement had my mom coming home from a wake with a dumpster full of trash. No exaggeration, from a completely empty dumpster to jump-on-it-compacting brimming with garbage full.
