My Symet

(born  31.12.2001 - )

This is the effect generated by
the CD used to build the symet.

The Symet is not my project.
This modified release built on CD is mine but I cannot be shure that I was the first to have done it.

If you want see the original go on  Solarbotics  website.

Note:
Transistor and diode can be substituted with equivalent one, they are not critical. The resistor can be a 3,3Kohm also. Bigger is the capacitor longer is the firing time and charging time also. Taking away the D2 and D3 the motor will fire quickly. The circuit can be mounted on 5 contacts pcb.
The symet works well in full sunlite or under a lamp enough strong.

Electronic components:

R1 = 2.2 Kohm - 1/4 Watt - 5%
C1= 0.1 Farad - 5.5 Volt
D1= Flashing led (red)
D2= 1N4004
D3= 1N4004
Q1= 2N2222A (NPN)
Q2 = 2N2907A (PNP)
M1 = C.C. motor savaged from a CD reader
SC1= solar cell 5Volt type Panasonic BP-373334 o equiv.
CD= cdrom  ;-)

Symet printed circuit board

This is a symet pcb savaged from a CDrom reader. Capacitor C1 was savaged also from CD reader. Numbers are as reference for freeform mounting.

Side view.
We can see the components and the solarcell glued on capacitor C1 (the green one).

Side view.

Bottom view. We can notice the motor fixed with three screw savaged vith motor.

Upper view. We can notice that CD have a 5 degree inclination needed to work.
