During this century we assisted to substantial changes which have led to different and new social and spatial dynamics .
We have passed from an industrial society to a technological one. This undeniable fact influences our everyday life and has repercursions at all levels.
Our area of studies, Architecture, has changed during this century from a functional, tectonic, rational space into a succession of hybrid forms, layers, where the symbolic, the potential to achieve new levels are again the key words. But not like in the Renascence or in the Barroc period, the architecture today is no longer wanting to just communicate itself or its aims but to represent another levels of knowledge, interests, publicising metaphorically and physically the aspirations of modern lives. ´
Architectures and cities as a support, a “field” not a finished piece of work. Flexible, interventional, capable of changing our way of life, bringing to our cities an interrelation of pre-existent forms, new ones, nature and constructed places.
