From the sand of the Hawaiian beaches to Broadway's stage. From the trunks (and t-shirt) of "lifeguard" to the cloak (plus top hat and walking stick) of two characters in one: Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. David Hasselhoff, star of "Baywatch", is on stage these days, in one of the most prestigious theatres of Manhattan, in New York, with the musical "Jekyll and Hyde". A considerable leap that one, from TV to theatre. Prepaired during 40 years: " when I was 8 I understood I wanted to become a Broadway star", tells the actor, bewitched when he was a child by a little role in "Peter Pan".

"Growing up, I studied Shakespeare and, dreaming a future on the stage, I tried to enrol in a important school in New York. What a pity: the vacancies were 17 and I was the 18th after the selections". He let his disappointment cool moving to Los Angeles, thanks to a 6 years contract with soap "Febbre D'Amore- The Young and The Resless", followed by the tv series "Supercar - Knight Rider" and "Baywatch". Thanks to these series he is one the 10 most popular people in American tv. In the same time with the career on the little screen, he has become a singer. But he never forget the theatre. "About 10 years ago, a role in "Grease" had been offered to me in New York, but I had to refuse, because I had a tour to present an album of mine. The right moment has came when after the 10th "Baywatch" serie, I understood I had to change my life". Probably a lasting change, since (even if the Musical is on stage till January 7th 2001) in new York, David moved near the theatre also his wife and his 2 daughters. "This is the most important role in my life, to face the challenge in the best way, I couldn't do it without my family". Also the dog, that he called "Sir Henry Jekyll".

"My dream is to stay on a stage since I was 8 years old?, says the actor, acting till January 7th 2001 in a musical version of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde".

The most watched on the stage. Up, Hasselhoff as Jekyll and, nearby, as Hyde with Coleen Sexton. The actor won in '83 a "People's Choice Award" for the first serie of "Supercar - Knight Rider" and he has been indicated by the Guinness book as the most watched TV star.
