Hasselhoff Not Amused by "Baywatch" Final Bang

David Hasselhoff doesn't want to get blown away.

The mature hunk says he's very upset with the plot for the season-ender episode of Baywatch Hawaii, which marks his final appearance.

"It's missing the boat. It lacks heart," Hasselhoff tells TV Guide in its March 4 issue, when asked about the finale in which he'll literally be blown out of the water.

"I thought it was a joke when I read the script. I was upset. I was planning to leave, but not like that," says Hasselhoff, who says "inappropriate things" were done to the character of lifeguard Mitch Buchannon this last year.

The fare-not-so-well episode, airing in May, was filmed in December. It is described by a spokesperson for the series as "a cliffhanger" in which it is not clear whether Hasselhoff lives or dies.

The Knight Rider action man has spent 10 seasons on Baywatch (renamed Baywatch Hawaii when filming moved away from Malibu and over to the islands this season.)

He remained the show's anchor, while a bevy of swimsuit beauties--including Pamela Anderson Lee, Gena Lee Nolin, Donna D'Errico and Yasmine Bleeth--giggled and jiggled their way to (sometimes) greener pastures. However this last season, Hasselhoff, now 47, has made limited appearances often in just cameo moments.

But if Hasselhoff's had it with the bodacious bods and international fame of the Baywatch franchise, he's apparently not disenchanted with television. He hopes to launch a new series, Double Cross, about a sleuth who's a "suave guy who drinks champagne and romances pretty women."

Meanwhile, there's no guarantee Baywatch Hawaii will be back. Earlier this month, one of the show's producers claimed there's been a lack of interest from distributors now that Hasselhoff is history. The producer said unless the state of Hawaii gives the company $2.5 million in funding, the long-running series might have to throw in the towel.

But the show's spokeperson insisted that the series has commitments from distributors for another two seasons and said that Hasselhoff, who is co-creator and executive producer of the show, would always be "welcome" if he did want to show up again on the beach.
