"Elvis has left the building", una commedia romantica diretta da Joel
Kim Basinger is Linked to Elvis Presley Source: Variety. Kim Basinger will star as a cosmetic saleswoman whose life is strangely entangled with Elvis Presley in Joel
Zwick's romantic comedy Elvis Has Left the Building. The film, which starts shooting September 15 in New Mexico, is
Zwick's first feature since My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Basinger will play the hapless
Harmony, born during an Elvis concert and ever after linked in some way to the
King. While on the road hawking lipstick, she accidentally kills a couple of Elvis impersonators and ends up on the run from the FBI. So, in an unlikely
coincidence, does a depressed advertising executive whose path intersects romantically with hers as the pair head toward the
pic's climax at an Elvis convention in Las Vegas.
Adam-Michael Barber and Mitchell Ganem wrote the screenplay. |

agosto: Jason Statham Aboard Cellular Source: Variety.
Jason Statham will play the bad guy in Cellular, joining Kim Basinger, Chris Evans and William H. Macy in the David Ellis-directed New Line
drama. Evans portrays a young man who answers a cell phone call from a desperate kidnap victim (Basinger) and has to track her down while making sure he doesn't lose the connection.
Macy plays a sympathetic cop, and Statham is in talks to take on the role of the
kidnapper. The film was originally scripted by Larry Cohen (Phone Booth). The script was rewritten by Chris Morgan and polished by J. Mackeye Gruber and Eric Bress. |

agosto: Da
TGCOM: "Kim Basinger "uccide" Elvis.
Presley...
Devlin.

agosto: KIM BASINGER TO STAR IN NEW DIET COKE TV AD. Hollywood actress Kim Basinger is to star in a new diet Coke TV ad, breaking
on Monday 7 April. The ad, created by Lowe, is part of a 3 year association
with diet Coke & movies that is set to give consumers VIP access to exciting
movie experiences. The ad will be on air for four weeks and will be seen by 80% of adults an
estimated 6.3 times. It has been created by Lowe to support the biggest ever onpack
promotion for diet Coke, the country's number two soft drink which, according to A. C. Nielsen data, grew by over 8% in
2002. This is the first time that a TV ad has been made to support a diet Coke promotion in Great
Britain. Filmed in Los Angeles, the ad shows the actress glamorously dressed in the
back of a limo, expressing her amazement at the fact that people can so easily
`win’ her hard-earned, celebrity lifestyle simply by drinking a diet Coke.
150 million special silver bottles and cans of diet Coke, diet Coke with Lemon
and Caffeine Free diet Coke will feature the promotion during April and
May. The promotion offers consumers the chance to win glamorous, all-expenses
paid trips to West End film premieres plus runners-up prizes of 100,000 free
Blockbuster videos and DVDs to own. The promotion follows on from the recent diet Coke Movie Weekend in
London’s Prince Charles Cinema and marks the beginning of a 3-year association of diet Coke with the world of film. In 2003 this association will
also see the brand sponsoring a number of London film premieres and a yearround
PR campaign. Coca-Cola Great Britain marketing director Charlotte Oades said: “We know
that the glamour and excitement of the movies holds great appeal for British
consumers. Through our 3 year association with the movies, diet Coke is
delighted to be able to offer a taste of the movie star lifestyle to consumers. The
TV ad starring Kim Basinger aims to bring this to life in a fun and entertaining
way by featuring a true Hollywood star who personifies this glamorous
lifestyle.” The 30-second ad was written by Sarah Naughton and Alistair Ross at
Lowe. It was directed by Jesse Peretz through Cowboy Films.
Lowe uses Kim Basinger for Diet Coke promotion. The Hollywood actress Kim Basinger is to star in a new TV commercial for Diet Coke, marking the start of a three-year association between the product and the
movies. The 30-second spot, breaking nationally on Monday, will support what is claimed to be the biggest-ever on-pack promotion for Diet Coke, which will allow consumers to win movie-related prizes.
Lowe produced the commercial, its first for Diet Coke since picking up the account in July last year.
Filmed in Los Angeles, the ad features the glamorously dressed actress in the back of a limousine mocking herself and recalling the awful jobs she did to become a star. She expresses her amazement that people can so easily win her hard-earned celebrity lifestyle simply by drinking Diet Coke.
The commercial's aim is to sustain and extend Diet Coke's position as the number-two soft drink in Britain with a sales growth of more than 8 per cent, according to Nielsen Media
Research. The promotion offers the chance to attend West End film premieres and win Blockbuster videos and
DVDs. Charlotte Oades, the Coca-Cola UK marketing director, said: "We know that the glamour and excitement of the movies holds great appeal for British
consumers." The commercial was written and art directed by Sarah Naughton and Alistair Ross and directed by Jesse Peretz at Cowboy Films, with media by Universal McCann.
Basinger's last appearance in a major UK ad campaign was in 1997 when she featured in a Peugot 406 ad by Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper. |

agosto: Basinger Urges PETCO Employees to Report Animal Abuse. Kim Basinger, Oscar winner and member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), is continuing her efforts to end animal
cruelty. The actress recently sent an email to over 1,000 PETCO employees across the country, encouraging them to report to PETA any neglect or abuse of animals in PETCO stores.
She writes, "Animal organizations throughout the country have been receiving numerous complaints that PETCO's own guidelines for in-store animal care aren't being
followed." Basinger continues to detail an account by a former PETCO employee revealing inhumane treatment of ferrets, birds, rats and mice.
She urges, "If any of these problems sound familiar to you or if you've heard of or witnessed an instance of abuse or neglect of animals, please report it to PETA immediately." She also offers confidentiality and anonymity for the PETCO employees.
As a member of PETA and strict vegetarian, Basinger is known for her animal rights activism, even posing in ads for PETA.
She won a best actress Oscar 1997's "L.A. Confidential." The actress most recently appeared in "People I Know" and "8 Mile" and is scheduled to begin shooting "Cellular" opposite William H. Macy and Jason Statham this
month. More information and a full copy of Basinger's letter can be found at
http://www.peta.org/
PETA member and Oscar-winning actor Kim Basinger fired off an urgent e-mail message to hundreds of PETCO employees across the country this morning, encouraging them to immediately report to PETA any neglect or abuse of animals in PETCO stores. Read what Kim had to say just below:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear PETCO employees,
I am writing today because I know that you care about animals, as I do, and because there is something going on at PETCO stores with which you may be able to help.
Animal organizations throughout the country have been receiving numerous complaints that PETCO’s own guidelines for in-store animal care aren’t being followed. Many animals at PETCO stores are being deprived of adequate food, water, and veterinary care, and many who are deemed unworthy of life are not given a humane
death.
On March 26, 2002, a former PETCO employee wrote to one such organization, PETA, saying, “Everything you wrote about PETCO is true. ... Ferrets were always coming in dehydrated with diarrhea, and they didn’t know how to eat hard food, way too young to be away from their mothers. Rats and mice came in suffering from upper respiratory infections, and since they were ‘cheap’ animals, we weren’t allowed to take them to the vet—it was either sell them as is, or send them back to be destroyed. Birds constantly came in with growths on their legs or deformed beaks as a result of bad factory breeding.”
If any of these problems sound familiar to you or if you’ve heard of or witnessed an instance of abuse or neglect of animals, please report it to PETA immediately: Send e-mail to
PETCOCruelty@peta.org or call 757-622-7382, extension 1346. Your name will be kept confidential if you prefer to remain anonymous. To find out more, please visit PETCOCruelty.com.
The animals need you on their side.
Thank you for caring,
Kim Basinger |

agosto: Erin Brockovich role is voted top mother on film.
UK FILM fans have voted Julia Roberts's Oscar-winning role as feisty single parent Erin Brockovich as the best ever movie portrayal of a
mother, a new survey revealed yesterday. Hot on Erin's spiky six-inch heels was the character of Molly
Weasley - the cuddly mother of Harry Potter's friend Ron, played by much-loved British actress Julie
Walters. Meanwhile, Dick van Dyke came up trumps as our favourite big screen
father for his role as the charming yet scatter-brained inventor Caractacus Potts in the classic 1968 musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
And Chevy Chase's well-meaning but bumbling Clark Griswold, from the National Lampoon movies, was
second. More than 4,000 people cast their votes in the Blockbuster study to
discover the very best and worst on-screen mums and dads. Jack Nicholson's terrifying psychotic character Jack Torrance from
Stanley Kubrick's screenplay The Shining came top of the list for the worst film
dad. Other dads fans would really rather forget included the cringe-making
Mr Levinstein from American Pie, who insists on trying to talk openly about sex with his embarrassed teenage son, and the odious Dr Evil
from the Austin Powers series. The least popular on-screen mum went to the spine-chilling character
of Margaret White, the mother of prom-girl Carrie in the smash hit 1976 horror film of the same
name. Close behind were Annette Bening's schizophrenic Carolyn Burnham in
the cult 1999 film American Beauty, Angelica Huston's mercenary Morticia Addams from The Addams Family, and
Kim Basinger's portrayal of Stephanie Smith in Eminem's cinematic debut, 8 Mile, in
2002. The results of the survey also revealed that other iconic father
figures included Robin Williams' manic Mrs Doubtfire, Sean Connery's gentlemanly Henry Jones - father of everyone's favourite
archaeologist Indiana Jones - and of course, James Stewart's George
Bailey, the flawed father in the 1946 Christmas classic, It's a Wonderful Life, who finally comes to his
senses. More mothers who captured hearts included long-suffering Mrs Gump,
played by Sally Field in US box office hit Forrest Gump, Renee
Zellweger's Dorothy Boyd in Jerry Maguire, and Carla Gugino's Ingrid Cortez of the children's film phenomenon Spy Kids. |
