I'm going to describe you Castrolibero arount 1870!

Yesterday I spoke you abount Italy unity in the 1860 (north+south Italy)

But after this unity a lot customs were put away and so south factories closed because there was north competition. In Castrolibero the cobblers and spinner suffered the results. In these years in Castrolibero lived around 1400 people (300 people on the Hill and 1100 people were countryman and lived in the valley underneath.beetwen Campagnamo and Surdo rivers.

On the Hill= In Castrolibero entrance there was the principal church (San Salvatore) and this entrance was dismal. There was a lot of old house used like barn an orrible small from pigs (that lived downstair of house with man) and from deads buried in the church San Salvatore (In 1890 a cemetery was built associated with this church. Around 1920 was built a new cemetery out from the Village and the old cemetery was destroied, but not all the bones were saved.)

There were two parts of the hill used like bathroom by men and women beacause in houses there was't WC.

On the Hill there were 3 churchs

Santa Maria della Stella (felldown with earthquake 1905. Today not in use)

San Giovanni (Today not in use)

arount 1870/1900 poverty, hard work in the fields and the myth easy $$ in U.S.A favoured a big exodus in south and north America.

Beetwen 1881/1891 Castrolibero population from 1462 people become 1456 peolple

(while beetwen 1871/1881 Castrolibero population increased of 107 people)
