Mega rare original
official programme (program) for the Holland Pop Festival held in
Rotterdam Kralingse Bos (Kralingen) from 26 to 28 June 1970.
The following
bands were on the bill (listed in order of appearance as stated in
the program):
26 June: Canned Heat, Quintessence, East Of Eden, Jefferson Airplane,
Santana, Flock, Hot Tuna (Stage 2: Ekseption, Focus, Bismark)
27 June: Country Joe, Pentangle, Renaissance, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Al
Stewart, CCC Folk Blues Inc., Tata Mirando, Byrds, Family, Dr. John
the Nighttripper, Third Ear Band (Stage 2: Oscar Benton, Dream, Bintangs)
28 June: Nederlands Danstheater, Fairport Convention, Fotheringay,
It's a Beautiful Day, Mungo Jerry, Soft Machine, Pink Floyd, Chicago
Art Ensemble, John Surman, Han Bennink, Caravan, Super Sister
The program looks
like a newspaper, it has indeed the same size of a newspaper and is
printed on the same kind of paper. It consists of 12 pages with black
& white photographs and accompanying text (in dutch) for each band,
plus an introduction, one page describing the "kralingsebos" site
of the festival, and the central "programma" page with the bill of
each day (there are hand-written "X" near some band's names).
The program is
overall in fair conditions (maybe even a bit worse for certain aspects)
as the paper has became dry and, consequently, rather fragile. It
has been evidently stored folded in the middle since then, so the
first (external) page appears very creased - with some little holes
- along the fold. The vertical fold between the first and the last
page is also very creased and perforated in many parts. There are
tears along the lower edges, and some creasing along the right edges
of most pages. Little portions of paper are missing from the lower
side of the last two pages. I wish to point out that I didn't get
such a detailed description from the seller whom I got this item from!
I now wish that anybody interested be correctly informed of the actual
conditions of the item.
Anyway, it's
a luck that this programme survived such a mass event like the Holland
Pop Festival - it happened nearly 40 years ago! It is without any
doubt an extremely rare document of that era, and a must have
for every Pink Floyd collector in particular.
