This can be avoided by converting MP3 ringtones into .m4a format, using the tutorial here: http://developer.sonyericsson.com/getDocument.do?docId=86985 The Nero command line converter linked to on p.14 will help to move MP3 >> WAV

If you want to put up some money try Episode Pro. It has great format compabilities and the quality is great (try the h.264 with eaac+ on a w880 and you will be impressed). FFmpegX is also okay and open source, althou the h.264
Theme Creator 3.1 suggests different patch sizes.
