America from c Alaska, n Yukon, nw,s Mackenzie, s Keewatin and n Manitoba s to e Washington, n Utah, nw Nebraska, ne Iowa, n Illinois, n Indiana, s Ontario, s Quebec and s New England.  Has recently disappeared from most of U.S. breeding range.
