MONTREAL, Canada (Monday, October 2, 2006) - - The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) announced today the sanction will take another step to compete internationally by competing at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada with the NASCAR Busch Series on August 4, 2007. With today’s announcement Canada is the third country to host a NASCAR Busch Series race next season.

Major auto racing will return to the Motor City, with the IndyCar and American Le Mans series adding the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix to their 2007 schedules. The races, announced Friday by racing great Roger Penske and Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, will be held on an island park on the Detroit River. The American Le Mans race will be run Sept. 1, and the IndyCar race a day later.
