Armed Sorties-Spokesman

Once again the U.S.-Anglo warplanes violated Iraq's airspace coming from their bases in Kuwait aided by AWACS from Saudi airspace and e2c from the Kuwait skies.

Spokesman for the air defence command told Ina that on Thursday and Friday the enemy ravens implemented 246 armed sorties and flew over the civil areas in basrah, quruna, nassiriya, as-slman, ishbija, samawa, ar'rafai, imara, kut, n'umaniya, diwania, najaf, nakieb, taleha, el-keidier, razaza, hashimiya, aziziya, rutba, umthura, teriabil, nadiyam, mukr elna'am and lusf.

The spokesman added that on Friday the U.S. and British warplanes launched 20-armed sorties coming from their bases in turkey and backed by AWACS from inside the Turkish airspace.

He added that these ravens flew over the civil targets in imadiya, zakho, bibo, aqra, rawandouz, arbil, mosul, dehok, ain zala and tel a'fer.

The total number of the armed sorties coming from their bases in turkey, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait since dec. 17, 1998 till drafting this statement mounted 25009, the spokesman concluded.
