WALT DISNEY TELEVISION ANIMATION

About of WALT DISNEY TELEVISION ANIMATION

Talking with Con Pederson

  • . but never quite finished because at that point I discovered the animation school over in Theater Arts at UCLA
  • . Somebody told me that it was a lot of fun doing animation so I thought I'd try it, and made a couple of student films
  • . WM: What were your student films like? CP: They were little cartoons, inspired by UPA, which in those days was the avant-garde of animation
  • . They had shipped me off to the First Armor Division in Louisiana, from which nobody was ever known to escape short of their time, but Walt Disney personally brought me to the attention of Werner von Braun because they had just got an animation camera there and didn't know how to use it
  • . WM: You were a natural person to work on 2001 since you had such an extensive background in both Space and animation
  • . He was a terrific artist, just out of school, and fit immediately into the animation business doing backgrounds
  • . WM: Computers also actually make animation and special effects international
  • . Just recently in Animation World we had an article about an which is linked to Korea and France

    Pete's Dragon
  • . They had moved away from their animation roots a little, had made some stinkers of films (at least by their standards) and had made some poor investment decisions
  • . The combination of live action and animation was nothing new in 1977 and even the Walt Disney Company had had a few attempts at the idea - most notably the very successful Mary Poppins from 1964 and Bedknobs and Broomsticks
  • . Still, if nothing else came from the nadir that produced efforts like this, the Walt Disney Company learned their lesson well and came roaring back with a succession of successful animation classics in the eighties and nineties
  • . The animation is hardly state of the art now and even for 1977 was not especially good
  • . Overall, this is quite possibly the worst film to emanate from the Di$ney studios since they started churning out animated film classics way back in 1937 with Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs , and its only redeeming feature is that it is probably the kick in the rear that the studio needed to get back to doing what it does better than anyone else, and has done since the very beginning - animation, pure and simple

    The One Lion
  • . 13, 2006 The special effects wizards at Wellington's Weta Workshop have picked up another top international honour, this time a Banff Rockie award for television programme animation
  • . Weta, along with Canadian co-producers Nelvana, won the animation prize at the Banff World Television Festival in Alberta, Canada, for Jane and the Dragon: Shall We Dance

End of the Road for 'Fury Road'
  • . For the first time, has acknowledged that he is facing a conflict between his position as head of Apple Computer and his position as head of Pixar Animation

Art & Science of Cinematography...... . The Director of Photography is the custodian of the heart of film making ... as the writers are of its soul ... his tool is a box with a glass window, lifeless until he breathes into it his creative spirit and injects into its steel veins, the plasma of his imagination .... the product of his camera, and therefore of his magic, means many things to many

  • . Fantasia 2000: Disney Remagics the Rates Y et, just when things were calming down, enter Disney's "Fantasia 2000." Introducing the update was just like giving a yo-yo to a flamingo, which is also the inspiration for one of the sequences in "F2K." Walt Disney created the original "Fantasia" 60 years ago, illustrating classical pieces of music with dazzling animation and declaring it a work-in-progress
  • . We just can't do that, but the content must grow." One of the ways Wechsler sees this growth happening is with animation and particularly 3-D animation
  • . Later this year, "Cyberworld" will make its mark using CGI animation; "Virtual Actor: The Boxer" will introduce a 3-D character; "Journey to the Center of the Brain" will probe the human computer and "Endangered" will feature an animated pterodactyl

They all get hundreds of tapes" >< Next question: >< (Wakko) What steps do you have to go through to become a voice actor? >< >< Mickey says, "Anything to add to what you answered before in general?" >< MaryKayBergman says, "Training is paramount! That's how I got started; I took every available class in commercial, narration, animation and that's the best way to know about the business." >< MaryKayBergman says, "Of course, it helps if you live in a major city like LA or NY or Chicago, but nowadays with the help of ISDN lines, more and more people are getting into voicework." >< Next question: >< (Mickey) What is the recording process like, for when you recorded voices for "Hercules" as well as the other projects you've done? Do you get shown the storyboards, hear from the director about your role and the situation, etc.? In the recording session are you playing off the other actors or by yourself? >< >< MaryKayBergman says, ""Sounds like you know a little about the process!" >< Mickey bows >< MaryKayBergman says, "On Hercules, I met with the directors and they showed me character sketches and some of the background pre-production art first..." >< MaryKayBergman says, "Then we had a script to work from and tried out several voices for each character, til we found the ones they liked the best."
