APS IVECO-Baribbi

Since the early 80s this AutoPompa Serbatoio (APS, Tank Pumper) has been the standard Italian fire engine in municipal fire departments. It was built by Baribbi on a OM/IVECO 79-13 chassis and it is powered by a 5.499 litres 6-cylinders Diesel engine developing 97 kW.

The short wheel-base and the limited width make this pumper particularly useful in urban areas with narrow streets.
This vehicle is equipped with an Antonicelli 200 pump unit with an output of 1,600 litres/min at 8 bar e 350 litres/min a 40 bar. The water tank carries 2,000 litres. In the rear compartment, just above the pump, a hose-reel is available. The roll-up aluminium shutters give access to 6 compartments where various pieces of equipment can be stored. The vehicle carries on the roof a wooden 10 m four-section ladder and a wooden hook ladder. A floodlight is mounted on the front bumper, at right. The APS is usually manned by a crew of 6 firemen.
This model, nicknamed "Baribbino" for its compact size, is now being replaced by the IVECO-Magirus City EuroFire.
