this year there was the
first edition of the Gran Galà dell'Alta Fedeltà held
in Padova and organized by the italian record label called Fonè
(that is, Giulio Cesare Ricci). Here you can find a short report only
of the systems which I have found more interesting.
The
big Marten "Coltrane" with diamond tweeter were pushed by the
massive Karan PAS450 solid state amp.
The
preamp was the new Parsifal from Klimo, while the source was the Klimo
Tafelrounde turntable.
The
Klimo Tafelrounde Reference with 4 arms (and cartridges). A top
Dynavector was playing the new Fonè recording of Vivaldi's
4 Season, with Salvatore Accardo as first violin.
The
Linn system with Hi-Res software and Klimax active speakers.
The
maestro Salvatore Accardo was therein, invited by Giulio Cesare
Ricci (Fonè).
I
brought a few Philips records from home and asked to the maestro
to sign them.
Accardo
is a very kind person!
Mrs
Ricci was selling some nice Fonè SACD at 10E for two!
Unfortunately the new Signoricci 200g DMM vinyls pressed in Japan
were sold at 49 E each (but the edition is limited to only 490
issues).
The
room with the Norma IPA140 integrated amp and Revo CDP player won my “user-friendly”
price, because the music was good and also well explained.
The
Diapason (Adamantes III?) loudspeakers are always very nice.
Aldo
Zaninello invited me to listen his nice Sigma speakers and White
Gold cables.
The
Sigma Image SL (with Zellaton woofer) were driven by Nat electronics
while the source was a TDA1541-based Abbingthon Music Research
CD77 player.
The
“small” (40W) 15kE Magma monoblock from Nat.
Fabrizio
Baretta (Faber's Cable) speaking with Marco Lincetto (Velut Luna)
and Aldo Zaninello (Extreme Audio).
Lorenzo
Audio Zen speaking with Raffele Antistatic Rubino,
who is looking for a new job in hi-end, so if you need a
consultant against EMI interferences here you have him.
The
guys from the www.VideoHiFi.com
forum organized a nice party inside the hotel hall. Emil63
Giarretta brought his very good home-made soppressa. Many thank
guys!
Italo
Adami and his colleague from Acustica Applicata were able to get
my “best sound of the show” prize even in a very
small room, thanks to their acoustic treatment.
The
big Avalon (43kE Eilodon Diamond?) and the huge Ampex tape
recorder.
The
digital source was “simply” the Playback SACD player:
I asked to listen with it my MAonSA sacd record and... WoW!
The preamp was the 19kE Lamm L2 Reference hybrid,
while the power amp was the small NL-10.1 from Edge (14kE?).
With
this Studer tape recorder we listened a wonderful third movement
of the Mahler Titano symphony.
The
Ayon system was not completely convincing me and for sure was not able to demonstrate the quality
of the Mystere's sound.
The
65kE (65000 EURO) air suspended direct coupled drive “Mystere”
turntable from Lumen-White was easily the best turntable of the
show. The rack was made by Taoc.
The
Mystere used the Miyajima Shilabe cartridge on an Origin Live tonearm.
The
italian Labtek laboratory is famous for his “Aurora”
CD player. Speakers were the Alkemia Vero 2.1.
Visiting Faber:
Since we were in Padova,
after the show we went to the Faber's Cable atelie, where I want to
compare the sound of my half-modded Sony XA5400ES player against the AMR
CD77. Unfortunately the 5 times costing AMR was overall better than
my Sony, but I'm still using OPamp and I hope to eliminate them in a
while. So,... I'll back soon!
The
system had Reference 3A speakers driven by Gamma “all tube”
electronics.
