’Tis the season to be giving Wise County Messenger

Applications are now being accepted for Newark area residents for the town’s Spirit of Christmas. The Angel Tree will be up in the Newark City Hall Dec. 1 to 15. If you would like to adopt an angel, come by city hall (from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.) each week day.

Decatur High School drama students are selling cookbooks for $15 and Christmas CDs for $10 as a fund-raiser for their trip to Scotland. To purchase, call Lance Morse, at (940) 393-7240.

Dan Ulberg, a teacher at Decatur High School, said he will open the wood shop to the public each Tuesday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. starting Nov. 14. The public is invited to receive instruction and build projects. Machines will be provided, but people will have to furnish their own material.
