MODEM GPRS EDGE
The Wild World of US Cellular Networks The original data carrier on GSM was called GPRS and was your dial-up modem equivalent in terms of speed. Later, an extended version of GPRS was introduced, known as EGPRS, or more commonly as "EDGE". EDGE offers roughly double the 6945 and GPRS/EDGE Plus, the modem function no longer works. I am suspecting that it is connecting to the EDGE network when used as a modem instead of the GPRS network.
