I've been copying and pasting this post I made a while back for those asking about steel cut oats or oats in general. I am posting this as a base thread so I can put the link in my signature :D Hope this helps you guys out.
Overnight Steel-cut Oatmeal
2 cups steel-cut oats 1/3 cup dried cranberries 1/3 cup dried apricots, chopped 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste. Combine water, oats, dried cranberries, dried apricots and salt in a 5- or 6-quart slow cooker. Turn heat to low.

Steel cut oats - yumm!!!
The first time I tried steel cut oats was several months ago and was NOT impressed. I think I didn't cook it long enough and had the heat on too high because it didn't seem quite done. I refused to give up on it though.

So this week, get to the store and find steel cut oats and buy it in bulk if you can. It’s cheap that way, otherwise you Quaker oats also sells steel cut oats now. For some reason steel cut oats is hard to find and I’m not sure why.

Oats, Rolled Oats, Steel-cut Oats - what is the difference ?
Rolled oats are made by steaming, crushing, and drying the groats. Flatter, more finely rolled oat groats cook faster. Regular rolled oats are used to make oatmeal. Steel-cut oats are hulled groats that are sliced but not rolled.
