Breve Descrizione: Il mirtillo è un piccolo arbusto che cresce spontaneo nei boschi di montagna fino a 2300 metri di quota. Ben noto per i suoi frutti, piccole bacche sferiche di circa mezzo centimetro di diametro, di colore nero violaceo, coperte di un sottile strato di pruina azzurrognola, con polpa succosa leggermente acidula e semi bruni di forma semilunare. Il fusto è alto 20-30 centimetri ed è molto ramificato. Le foglie sono piccole, ovali, lucide, di colore verde, pallido nella pagina inferiore e con margini seghettati.

Durata: Perenne.

Periodo Di Fioritura: Primavera.

Area Di Origine: Nord America, Europa.

Clima: Temperato fresco, freddo.

Uso: Poco usato per decorazioni. Molte specie di mirtilli producono bacche commestibili, più o meno aspre secondo la specie e il grado di maturazione. Tra le altre, citiamo il mirtillo nero (il più usato) e il mirtillo rosso.

The stem is 20-30 cm tall and is much branched. The leaves are small, oval, shiny, green, pale on the lower and with serrated margins.

Climate: Cool temperate, cold.

Use: Little used for decorations. Many species of blueberries produce edible berries, more or less harsh depending on the species and the degree of ripeness. Among others, we mention the blueberry (the most used) and the cranberry.
