Nome Botanico: Nerine.

Famiglia: Amaryllidaceae.

Breve Descrizione: Pianta fiorita sia da interni che da esterni, abbastanza facile da coltivare ma delicata. Sono specie bulbose, con foglie lineari che in alcune specie si sviluppano dopo i fiori . Gli scapi fiorali, privi di foglie, sono alti fino a 60 cm e presentano fiori dal biano, al rosa, al rosso. Presenta infiorescenze ad ombrella, composte da fiori a 6 tepali nastriformi con il margine ondulato.

Durata: Perenne.

Periodo Di Fioritura: Tra luglio e settembre.

Area Di Origine: Africa australe.

Clima: Tropicale.

Uso: E' una pianta molto apprezzata per le sue infiorescenze, viene coltivata anche come fiore reciso. I bulbi hanno bisono di minimo due anni per crescere e svilupparsi, prima di iniziare a produrre i primi veri fiori. Le specie più grandi posso far crescere due o più steli se sono state coltivate in condizioni adeguate. Sopravvivono fino a 14 giorni in vaso con acqua, senza mostrare alcuna sofferenza nei colori.

Brief Description: Flowering plant from both internal and external, fairly easy to grow but delicate. Are bulbous species, with linear leaves that in some species develop after the flowers. The floral scapes, devoid of leaves, are up to 60 cm and have flowers from bian, to pink, to red. Presents inflorescences in umbel, composed of 6 tepals ribbon flowers with wavy margins.

Climate: Tropical.

Use: A number of the species of this genus are cultivated as ornamentals. The bulbs of Nerine species need a minimum of two years growth and development in order to produce their first flowers. The largest bulbs can give rise to two stems or more if they have been grown under suitable conditions. They are used as cut flowers as they can survive up to 14 days in a vase with water without showing any staining.
