Breve Descrizione: Si presenta come un arbusto non molto ramificato di media grandezza, che raggiunge i 150-200 cm di altezza, con fusto legnoso, tendente al marrone scuro-grigiastro. Le piante di questo genere tendono ad assumere una forma rotondeggiante, per via dei numerosi polloni basali che si sviluppano rapidamente. Le foglie sono imparipennate, divise in una decina di piccole foglie ovali, appuntite, con piccole spine, di colore verde scuro. Fiorisce in marzo-aprile presentando piccoli fiori di colore giallo oro all'apice dei fusti, riuniti in pannocchie, delicatamente profumati. In primavera inoltrata produce piccole bacche scure.

Durata: Perenne.

Periodo Di Fioritura: Tra marzo e aprile, altre specie verso settembre e ottobre.

Area Di Origine: Asia orientale e America settentrionale.

Clima: Temperato caldo.

Uso: Principalmente usata come ornamento di giardini e parchi.

Brief Description: It looks like a not very branched shrub of medium size, reaching 150-200 cm in height, with a woody stem, dark brownish-gray. The plants of this kind tend to take on a rounded shape, because of the numerous basal shoots that grow quickly. The leaves are imparipinnate, divided into ten small oval leaves, pointed, with small spines, dark green. It blooms in March-April presenting small flowers yellow gold height of the stems, in panicles, delicately scented. In spring it produces small dark berries.

Flowering Period: Between March and April, other species around September and October.

Area of Origin: East Asia and North America.

Climate: Temperate warm.

Use: Several species are popular garden shrubs, grown for their ornamental, often spiny, evergreen foliage, yellow flowers in autumn, winter and early spring, and blue-black berries. The flowers are borne in terminal clusters or spreading racemes, and may be among the earliest flowers to appear in the growing season. The berries are edible, and rich in vitamin C, though with a very sharp flavor.
