Breve Descrizione: Comprende 40 specie fruticose sempreverdi, l'altezza varia dai 50 cm. a 1,20 m. a seconda della specie, le foglie sono lunghe e strette, di color verde-grigio. I fiori, di piccole dimensioni, dal calice tubuloso di colore bluastro con corolla purpureo-violacea, sono disposti in spighe lungamente peduncolate ed emanano un profumo molto forte e gradevole. Il frutto è una noce marrone e lucida.

Durata: Perenne.

Periodo Di Fioritura: Tra primavera ed estate.

Area Di Origine: Bacino del Mediterraneo.

Clima: Temperato caldo.

Uso: Questa pianta è usata per siepi e bordure, ma soprattutto nel campo della cosmesi e aromaterapia. L'olio di lavanda è il più utilizzato in profumeria.
