Breve Descrizione: Comprendente numerose specie, tra cui la comunissima edera (Hedera Helix), pianta lianiforme rampicante, comune nei giardini e nei nostri boschi dal mare al monte; ha fusti lignificati ramosi, aderisce facilmente al substrato grazie alle radici avventizie aggrappanti, raccolte in tipici fascetti, le foglie sono lungamente picciolate, coriacee, intere di colore verde scuro; mostra evidente eterofillia con foglie palmato-lobate sui rami vegetativi, e ovato-romboidali sui rami fioriferi che portano in settembre o inizio ottobre piccoli fiori verdastri; produce piccole bacche nerastre o giallognole contenenti due o tre noccioli.

Durata: Perenne.

Periodo Di Fioritura: Estate.

Area Di Origine: Europa, Nord Africa, Asia e Giappone.

Clima: Temperato.

Uso: Le specie coltivate come piante ornamentali sono varietà e ibridi ottenuti da Hedera Helix a foglie variegate o da Hedera Canariensis a foglie più grandi. L'edera comune è molto apprezzata in cosmetica per le sue proprietà tonificanti e drenanti.
