Breve Descrizione: Le specie del genere Cucurbita sono piante erbacee annuali. In generale adiacenti al terreno o rampicanti, raggiungono nella varietà silvestre vari metri di lunghezza del tallo, lanciando inoltre laccioli con i quali si attaccano alla vegetazione adiacente. Le foglie sono in generale palmate. I frutti sono il prodotto per cui normalmente si coltivano, varíano grandemente di dimensioni a seconda della specie, arrivando a vari kg di peso, e variano anche grandemente di forma; ve ne sono di larghi, cilindrici, sferici, con colori che vanno dal giallo pallido al verde intenso. La parte esterna del frutto si indurisce e ingrossa avanzando la maturazione.

Brief Description: The species of the genus Cucurbita are herbaceous annuals. Generally adjacent to the ground or climbing, reaching in the variety Scots several meters in length of the thallus, and launched with straps which attach to adjacent vegetation. The leaves are palmate in general. The fruits are the product for which normally are grown, vary greatly in size depending on the species, coming to several kg in weight, and also vary greatly in shape; there are large, cylindrical, spherical, with colors ranging from pale yellow to deep green. The external part of the fruit hardens and ingrossa advancing maturation.
