Nome Botanico: Anthurium Andreanum.

Famiglia: Araceae.

Breve Descrizione: Pianta erbacea fiorita a fogliame decorativo. Quello che comunemente è chiamato «fiore» è in realtà un’inflorescenza che si divide in due parti: la spata e lo spadice. La prima è libera, più o meno concava, di color rosso-lacca, bianco o rosa, e deriva da una foglia trasformata che all'inizio avvolge proprio lo spadice. Quest'ultimo è un'inflorescenza sottile, ben eretta, cilindrica con fiori ermafroditi e sessili. Le foglie sono grandi e cuoriformi. La pianta può raggiungere gli 80 cm. di altezza.

Durata: Perenne.

Periodo Di Fioritura: La fioritura dura da giugno a settembre, ma si può sfruttare la tendenza naturale della pianta a fiorire di più in inverno per avere vasi fioriti da dicembre a Pasqua. Il vero fiore non è la brattea ma si trova sullo spadice ed è costituito da minuscole protuberanze. Le spate fiorali durano molto a lungo, ne esistono diverse varietà con tonalità differenti (rosso-arancio, bianco, rosa, giallo o con punteggiature bianche).

Area Di Origine: E’ originaria delle zone tropicali e sub-tropicali dell’America Centrale e Meridionale.

Clima: Tropicale.

Uso: Piante ornamentale da interni, molto apprezzate per i fiori decorativi. Sono usate anche per i fiori recisi.

Brief Description: Herbaceous plant flowered in decorative foliage. What is commonly called the "flower" is actually an inflorescence that is divided into two parts: the spathe and spadix. The first is free, more or less concave, reddish-lacquer, white or pink, and is derived from a leaf transformed that wraps its beginning the spadix. The latter is an inflorescence slender, well-built, cylindrical with hermaphrodite flowers and sessile. The leaves are large and heart-shaped. The plant can reach up to 80 cm. in height.

Duration: Perennial.

Flowering Period: Flowering lasts from June to September, but you can take advantage of the natural tendency of the plant to flower more in winter for flowering pots from December to Easter. The real highlight is the bract, but is on the spadix and is made up of tiny bumps. The spate floral last very long, there are different varieties with different colors (red-orange, white, pink, yellow or white spots).

Area of Origin: Is native to the tropical and sub-tropical Central and South America.

Climate: Tropical.

Use: Plants ornamental interiors, very appreciated for the decorative flowers. They are also used for cut flowers.
