Breve Descrizione:  Pianta perenne rizomatosa, di origine australiana. Produce ampi cespi di foglie di colore verde brillate o verde-grigio, sottili, nastriformi, arcuate. Durante la primavera e l’estate tra le foglie si ergono sottili fusti scuri, ramificati, in genere di colore rosso, ricoperti da una sottile peluria, alti in alcune specie fino a 100-150 cm; all’apice dei fusti sono presenti numerosi boccioli, riuniti in racemi. I boccioli di Anigozanthos sono molto vistosi, hanno forma tubolare, allungata e portano una fitta peluria rossa, arancio, gialla, verde o porpora. All’apice dei boccioli si aprono piccole corolle a sei petali, in genere di colore chiaro. La conformazione dei fiori ricorda le Zampe di un animale, da questa particolarità deriva il nome comune della pianta.
