Nome Botanico: Agapanthus.

Famiglia: Liliaceae.

Breve Descrizione: Pianta erbacea, la cui altezza varia tra i 30 ed i 60 cm. Le foglie sono verdi, nastriformi, arcuate, leggermente carnose; sono lunghe fino a 60-80 cm ed in genere, nei luoghi con inverni rigidi, seccano all'inizio dell'autunno, per spuntare ancora in primavera inoltrata. Il fiore è di colore blu e ha la classica forma ad ombrello. Ogni stelo può portare anche 25/30 fiori che occupano, di solito, uno spazio di circa 10 cm.

Durata: Perenni o annuali.

Periodo Di Fioritura: Fine giugno.

Area Di Origine: Africa meridionale, in particolare Sudafrica.

Clima: Mediterraneo.

Uso: E' utilizzata soprattutto per giardini e aiuole, ma anche come fiore reciso, è difatti un'ottima pianta da recidere, sia il fiore fresco che secco quando ha formato le capsule dei semi.
