Nome Botanico: Achillea millefolium.

Famiglia: Compositae.

Breve Descrizione: Pianta erbacea rustica con fusto rigido e duro. Presenta foglie alterne di colore grigio – verde, sfrangiate, a segmenti lineari, aromatiche, simili ad un pizzo, che si staccano direttamente da un fusto non ramificato, sulla sommità del quale si schiudono i piccoli capolini ligulati di un bianco opaco, talora sfumato di rosa, riuniti in ombrelle poste sulla sommità degli steli e dotati di un profumo tipicamente acre e pungente. La pianta può sfiorare il mezzo metro d'altezza.

Durata: Perenne.

Periodo di fioritura: Dalla rosetta basale iniziano a crescere le infiorescenze che si apriranno verso S. Giovanni (24 giugno) e continueranno a fiorire fino all'autunno.

Area Di Origine: Europa, Nord America.

Clima: Rigido / Temperato.

Uso: Coltivata per aiuole, bordure e giardino roccioso. Inoltre presenta diversi impieghi in campo farmacologico e culinario.

Brief Description: A herbaceous plant with hardy stem stiff and hard. The leaves are alternate, gray - green, fringed, segments linear, aromatic, similar to a lace coming off directly from an unbranched stalk, on top of which will hatch the little heads of ligulate dull white, sometimes tinged with pink umbels placed on meeting the top of the stems and have a bitter and pungent smell typical. The plant can even go up half a meter in height.

Duration: Perennial.

Flowering period: From a basal rosette buds begin to grow, which will open against S. John (24 June) and will continue to bloom until fall.

Area Of Origin: Europe, North America.

Climate: Hard / Moderate temperatures.

Use: Bred for beds, borders and rock garden. Also has several applications in drug research and culinary.
