Il risultato è una pellicola noiosa e spesso ridicola, con una colonna sonora assolutamente inadeguata e con l'insopportabile Penélope Cruz (protagonista anche del prototipo) che fa più smorfie nella prima metà del film di quante ne ha fatte Meg Ryan in tutta la sua carriera

Del resto cosa ci si poteva attendere da un regista mediocre, mediocre sceneggiatore, che dirige un mediocre attore di enorme successo (qui anche nelle vesti di produttore) se non una pappa standardizzata pronta per essere ingoiata con gusto da uno spettatore onnivoro e svogliato? Non sorprende dunque che le cose migliori siano quelle fotocopiate dall'originale (la serata al locale) e che tutto il resto sia gonfio e dilatato all'inverosimile da luoghi comuni, citazioni patetiche (la nouvelle vague al muro), comparsate che dovrebbero fare simpatia (Spielberg tra gli invitati alla festa), condito con musica di serie A (Radiohead, Chemical Brothers, persino l'ipnotica INDRA dei francesi Thievery Corporation etc.), con la Cruz a ricoprire lo stesso ruolo che aveva nell'originale e la Diaz a fare la guastafeste (la più antipatica e la migliore del terzetto)

There he met the charming Sofia Serrano (Cruz) and was absolutely smitten
The romantic chemistry between Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz is excellent, and the acting chemistry between Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz is excellent as well
The other featurette, titled "Hitting It Hard, " is ten minutes long and shows Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz on the film's international press tour
