    Sonic Adventure 2 - Review
Contains a review of the game.

  • Did they deliever? Read on and find out! The Good The Chao World is a magical place! If I told you that the Dreamcast could run a game with several million polygons per second, gorgeous lighting effects, ultra-high resolution textures, all locked in at 60 frames per second you probably wouldn't believe me

  • Complex moves like the spin dash, bounce, light dash, Chaos warp, homing missiles, digging, grinding, and punching are all handled with simple combinations of the A and B buttons

  • And if these levels weren't enough, there are plenty of mini-games to keep you busy as well; gamers will be able to race go-karts, raise Chao, and even race them

  • In addition, two players can compete in all three gameplay styles and race karts or Chaos against one another

  • In the original Sonic Adventure , one section of the game that many players enjoyed was the Chao sequence

  • For those not in the know, a Chao is a form of A-life (artificial life) that Sonic and the gang can care for throughout the game

  • Sonic Team expanded the Chao sequences perfectly to fit into the Hero/Dark motif found in the game

  • Raising a Chao is essentially a the same as raising a virtual pet

PlanetDreamcast: Games - Reviews - Sonic Shuffle
Review, by zerothreat: "...not only is the game lacking in innovation, but it's
    dragged way, way down...

  • You can play as any one of eight Sonic Adventure characters, beginning with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy (players can unlock the others -- Big the Cat, E-102 Gamma, Super Sonic and a Chao -- in a separate portion of the game)

Gameplanet - Reviews - Sonic Pinball Party
Review, by M: "With so many modes, engrossing gameplay, vibrant visuals and great
    music, Sonic Pinball...

  • Chips collected while playing in Arcade mode are converted to rings and available in the Tiny Chao Garden

  • So, not all innocent fun, but then that's before you visit your Tiny Chao Garden

  • Naturally, the objective is to grow and care for your own Chao, mainly by buying food and toys with rings collected from pinball

  • Those with Sonic Adventure 2 or Sonic Adventure DX will be able to upload their Chao to the Chao garden in those games

  • Two fully developed mini games are available in the Tiny Chao Garden: Memory Game is similar to Concentration and involves tracking overturned cards and matching pairs from memory

  • Chao's CC Shoot is similar to Connect Four - although you need to connect groups of ten coloured chips in CC Shoot, but that's about the best way to describe it

  • Outside of the Tiny Chao Garden, linking up to four GBAs together enables three further minigames

    Electric Playground
Review, by Todd Mowatt: "Fun is the operative word here and this game delivers
    the brand of entertainment...

  • The Chao Garden is an area in Sonic Advance that is similar to the Chao Garden found in Sonic Adventure 2 on the GameCube

  • In both games you can raise and care for the little blue Chao in a Virtual Pet type of experience by feeding them, handling them and giving them presents

  • Then you (and up to three other players) can transfer their GBA raised Chao and compete against others in Chao Karate or in the Chao race in Sonic Adventure 2

  • All you have to do is hook the GBA to GameCube link cable into a controller port on the Nintendo GameCube, walk your character to the Chao Transporter, and obey the easy to follow prompts to move your Chao

  • Even if gamers don't have Sonic Adventure 2 yet, they can still interact with their Chao on their GBA

  • Using the GBA's sleep mode, the Chao will remain in the GBA's memory until they can be transported into SA2

  • But remember if you turn off the GBA, the data on your Chao will be wiped out

  • The only complaint that I have about this game is that it can be completed in less than two hours; however, playing the mini-games in the Chao Garden area over and over will prolong the fun; they're very addictive! Fun is the operative word here and this game delivers the brand of entertainment that gamers have come to expect from Sega and the Game Boy Advance

EAGB Advance Game Review - Sonic Pinball Party
Review, by DjFIL: "In Sonic Pinball Party the difficulty factor is just right,
    so you won't get too...

  • With 5 modes in total; Arcade, Story, Party, Tiny Chao Garden & Casinopolis; you should be able to find something to suit your needs

  • Remember tamagotchi? In most of Sonic's recant releases (including all of the GBA releases) they have included a feature called Tiny Chao Garden

  • These rings you can spend on your Chao (virtual pet), buying him/her food and gifts or even another Chao for yours to play with

  • Also in the Tiny Chao Garden is 2 mini-games for you to earn more rings

  • But if you play the games right, you have the chances to win lots of rings back so you can buy your Tiny Chao more expensive food and gifts

  • Benefits

    SONIC ADVENTURE 2 BATTLE
Information about the game, multimedia, and resources.

  • This is the site for Chao breeders

  • There is a lot of information here regarding how to raise a Chao

    IGN: Sonic Advance Review
Review, by Craig Harris: "...Sega's GBA development team pulled out a wonderful
    handheld title..."...

  • Features Four characters More than twelve levels Chao Garden Mini-games Link Cable support for four players (single/multiple cartridge support) Battery Save GameCube interface with Sonic Adventure 2: Battle Only for Game Boy Advance Sonic Advance is a completely original product that expands upon an existing design

  • The rings you earn can be converted into goodies used in the Tiny Chao Garden

  • The cool thing here is, if find yourself a GameCube with Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and a GameCube Game Boy Advance cable, you can send your little buddy to the system and onto the Chao Races

  • The mini-games in the Tiny Chao Garden are also deceptively fun, too...they're honestly not much more than a simple game of Memory and Rock/Paper/Scissors, but they're designed in such a way that you may find yourself playing them over and over and over...I know I did

  • The Tiny Chao Garden is what's sent to the Game Boy Advance from the GameCube if you don't have Sonic Advance , but believe me...you want the cartridge if you're planning on a Sonic Adventure 2 Battle purchase, since the cartridge actually saves your Chao's progress to the battery backed RAM

    IGN: Sonic Pinball Party Review
Review, by Craig Harris: "It's a great game, but not quite a must-have." [Score:
    8.3 out of 10]

  • Features Three full, changing pinball tables Three casino games Tiny Chao Garden Link cable support for four players (single cartridge) GameCube connectivity Cartridge save for high scores and unlockables Only for Game Boy Advance Sonic Pinball Party features three pinball tables based on games that were created by Sega's Sonic Team development group

  • Sonic the Hedgehog has players whacking the silver ball around targets to save little Flicky creatures, hatching Chao creatures, and, ultimately, defeating Dr

  • These games are a great way to score rings for the Tiny Chao Garden , also included in the package (with a really clever puzzle game that's a cross between Bust-a-Move and Othello

  • But the extra little game in the Tiny Chao Garden , a puzzle game that combines Bust-a-Move with Othello is almost worth overlooking the little negative nuances that slipped into the development of Sonic Pinball Party

    CCG: Sonic Advance 2 Cheats

Sonic Adventure DX Directors Cut Review - GamersHell.com
[6.9/10] Review with screen shots. "Although not perfect, it is enough to keep
    Sonic fans happy and...

  • Robotnik! After he tells you his evil plan, you get to fight Chaos

  • This will give you basic controls of the game and after you conquer Chaos you are free to roam around the world

  • Action phases are courses that sonic must run through attempting to get the chaos emerald and therefore keeping Robotnik away from them

  • During action phases, you will speed through different courses collecting rings, chaos and eventually your chaos emerald

  • One of which is raising chao’s, and racing them

  • Chao's range from frogs to bunnies

  • After you have one or more, you take them to a chao garden where they can be raised

  • You can feed them, play with them, buy them things, and race them for prizes! Another nice addition to the GC version is, if you have a GBA and the link cable, you can play with your chao's on your GBA

    Sonic Pinball Party Review
Review, by Pete: "While pinball is far from popular on most home systems, the
    Sonic Pinball Party...

  • As in Sonic Advance 1 and 2, there is a Tiny Chao Garden, which allows gamers to raise their very own pet Chao

  • You can tax your brain in a Memory style game or elminiate Color Chips in a puzzle like game called Chao's CC Shoot

Review - Sonic Advance 2 // Game Boy Advance /// Eurogamer
Review, by Tom Bramwell: "This is the sort of game we need to encourage."

  • She's a bunny rabbit with a little chao hovering round her shoulder called Cheese (oh God), and she can hover for a short while and lob Cheese at enemies - which is bloody useful in boss battles, without being advantageous enough to render the game too easy

  • Getting 100 per cent though is very difficult, because that involves collecting all the chaos emeralds - and you can't even start doing that until you've claimed each of the seven special rings spread around each stage

  • It's not until you finish the game with Sonic (or whoever) the first time, collecting all the chaos emeralds, that you're able to head into the Chao Garden - which can allegedly link up with both Sonic Adventure titles on the Cube (although we weren't able to test this as Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut isn't out yet and we didn't receive our copy of Sonic Adventure 2 last year - maybe we should have bought one of the second hand copies that flooded CEX shortly after May 3rd…) But the Chao Garden itself is a nice touch, allowing you to nurture your little fellows like Tamagotchi without having to pull a beeping, egg-shaped case out of your pocket and field looks of disdain and pity from passengers on the 3:20 to Margate

Review - Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut // Gamecube /// Eurogamer
Review, by Tom Bramwell: "...we're left with a pretty basic port of the Dreamcast
    game." [Score: 5...

  • Robotnik for control of the all-powerful chaos emeralds

  • Graphically it even stands up fairly well to current opposition, with detailed central characters, crisp environments and plenty of imaginative locations, and Robotnik's increasingly deadly and elaborate contraptions put up a reasonable end of stage fight - as does his newfound protégé, the liquid-based Chaos

  • On the sidelines - perhaps fuelling your appreciation, perhaps not - are the chao gardens, where you can rear, breed and race Tamagotchi-style pets

  • And whereas carrying the VMU around was a nice, space-saving way of 'gaming' on the move - or, more accurately, wasting a few minutes a day prodding the infant chao - if you've got a GBA or SP in your pocket then there are much better uses for it

  • Things to do and see (if you're able) Other changes to the formula are easily spotted (largely thanks to a list on the back of the box), and these include 'graphical improvements' and Game Gear Sonic titles, which can indeed be unlocked once you've successfully reared some chaos, and a new Mission mode

Review: Sonic Advance for GBA on Gamepro.com.
Review, by Star Dingo: "On the technical front, Sonic Advance is hyper-colorful
    and moves with great...

  • The monster-breeding Tiny Chao Garden mini-game also has its own disturbing, silly, inexplicably addictive appeal, and enables you to play Tiny Chao versions of Memory and Rock, Paper, Scissors with your bulbous Tiny Chao friends

    Jolt
Review of Windows version by Colin Barnwell. Includes screen shots. Score: 5 out of 10.

  • Another thing that you'll find either hit or miss are Chao

  • Chao are cute little artificial life thingies (hey, best description I can give)

  • Once you've ‘taught' your Chao, you can enter it in competitions against other Chao and again, unlock bonuses

  • The Chao offer an interesting distraction and the Game Gear games add to the longevity, though not nearly as much as some Megadrive games might have

"The Next Level" Game Review - Sonic Advance 2
Review, by AFX: "It’s fast fun, and it’s the sort of game any GBA owner should
    have." [Grade: B+]

  • At full speed isn’t always the best way to approach the levels, though, as you’ll find yourself missing most of the special rings required to earn the Chaos Emeralds in each area

  • Eggman’s plots, Amy can hit enemies with a hammer and annoy everyone, and now we also have Cream the rabbit, who can float and order her Chao sidekick Cheese to attack enemies

  • With fantastic level design, nice visuals, five distinct characters to replay the game with, and the Chao’s Garden GBA mini game, there are many hours' worth of fun here
