Virginia Health Care Foundation | Serving more than 400000 ...
Promotes and funds local public-private partnerships that increase access to
primary health care services for medically underserved and uninsured Virginians.
Every initiative undertaken by the Virginia Health Care Foundation -- and every project that receives VHCF funding -- share the same focus: to make primary health care more available to uninsured and medically underserved Virginians
Initiated in 1992 by the Virginia General Assembly and its Joint Commission on Health Care, the Virginia Health Care Foundation works to improve the lives and health of Virginia’s uninsured
Whether helping children obtain health insurance, providing seniors and the chronically ill with medicines they need, or bringing more health professionals to underserved areas, VHCF touches the lives of thousands of Virginians everyday
This has enabled VHCF to leverage an average of $11 in cash, health services, and other in-kind contributions for every dollar it has spent over the past seven years
More than 30, 000 uninsured have been enrolled in state-sponsored health insurance programs (FAMIS and FAMIS Plus) by VHCF grantees
While there are no simple answers for uninsured or medically underserved Virginians, community-by-community the Virginia Health Care Foundation is making a difference

The Virginia Health and Environment Project

About VaHEP The Virginia Health & Environment Project (VaHEP) is working to make Virginia the healthiest state in the United States
VaHEP is the only statewide organization tackling issues that lie at the intersection of health and the environment
A primary area of concern is pesticide use and its effects on human health and the environment
Their effort brought neighbors together and as they got more involved they learned more about the health effects of pesticides on humans and on their local ecology
This group of passionate citizens from Montebello decided to take their work statewide and created the Virginia Health and Environment Project in January of 2002
VaHEP is working not only to protect Montebello’s success and extend it to other localities; it is also deeply concerned with a multitude of other environmental health issues relating to chemical exposure facing Virginia communities today
VaHep is dedicated to building a strong statewide organization that can bring a health perspective to environmental issues, and an environmental perspective to health issues to better protect all of our communities
