Vista questa congiuntura tra open source, Linux e Mac OS X viene spontaneo un confronto tra i due sistemi operativi per capire quali vantaggi ha l'uno rispetto all'altro ed anche capire se lo slogan 'La potenza di Unix con la semplicità dei Macintosh', proposto da Apple, é in realtà veritiero
