After the Space Oddity intro music, U2 plays a two-minute rock riff called 'Return of the Stingray Guitar' to start the show. Still with the house lights on, Beautiful Day is the first traditional song played. Bono sings Happy Birthday for Edge, who'll be 49 in two days, during band introductions. Bono and Edge debut a new acoustic song called North Star, followed immediately by a much louder new tune called Glastonbury. Bono sings a bit of Discotheque at the start of the Crazy remix. 'Hold Me, Thrill Me' is played for the first time since March 21, 1998, at the last show of the PopMart Tour. Two months removed from back surgery, Bono appears to go through the show full bore, and with no problems.

Will Follow is played for the first time on the 360 Tour. No Line On The Horizon
is played for the first time in 2010. Edge plays acoustically - Bono calls it a
'busker' version. Bono and Edge debut a new song, Every Breaking Wave, and Bono
talks him through the chords in the middle. It was the last song dropped from
'No Line on the Horizon' and is rumored to be on U2's next album. Pride is
played for the first time in 2010. Bono sings an unknown song/snippet before MLK.
He sings several snippets throughout the show that refer to the rainy weather in
Helsinki.

plays its first concert in Russia. Fans enter to a stadium that's heavy on
police and security. Before the show, U2 learns that police have shut down
Greenpeace, ONE Campaign, and Amnesty International booths outside the stadium
and detained several Amnesty volunteers on the grounds that they were picketing
illegally. They're later released without charge. Inside, it rains heavily for
the first half of the show, prompting Bono to sing about the rain several times.
All of the new songs except 'Stingray' are dropped for this new audience. Yuri
Shevchuk, singer of Russian band DDT, joins the band on stage for Knocking on
Heaven's Door. Mikhail Gorbachev is in attendance.

soundchecks Mercy and Mothers Of The Disappeared in the afternoon, but only one
makes an appearance during the show. Mothers is dedicated to Fehmi Tosun, who
disappeared in Turkey in 1995 and is mentioned on the Pop album notes. Turkish
folk singer Zulfu Livaneli comes on stage to sing it with Bono, then sings one
of his own songs, Yigidim Aslanim, with Bono. (A fan also sang his own song at a
U2 show on Oct. 10, 1992.) Earlier, U2's crew joined Snow Patrol on stage for 'Chasing
Cars' - it's the last time Snow Patrol opens for U2 this year. The stadium is
reportedly only a little more than half full.

Rain begins shortly before U2 goes on, and the show is delayed while crew cover the stage and equipment. The late start and local curfew and/or the heavy rain forces U2 to cut the encore short by a couple songs. By all accounts, the crowd is one of the most enthusiastic of the tour and they get treated to the first live performance of Mercy, a much-loved, unreleased track from the 'Atomic Bomb' sessions. Mothers of the Disappeared makes another rare appearance, as does the new track North Star.
